Thanks to my Coal Miners Baseball League buddy and fellow car guy Jordan Brandback I recently received a box of old drag racing and hot rod magazines and various drag racing related stuff, including this cool 2-page story on Van Isle Dragway that ran in the April 1970 Motorsport Magazine.

Okay so I have a new mission(Passion) that I am now working on.I want to try and find some photo's of Van Isle Dragways after it shutdown September 24 1972. I feel I have done fairly well with the beginning and during its 5 year run but now want to concentrate on its ending. I have been told that the strip was around for a few years after it closed. I talked with a fellow who lives near the old grounds one time when I was there and he said he moved to the area in 1975 and the strip was still there. So if anyone can contribute any idea's please let me know.Also looking for some construction photos, like the tower. Anyone who know's me well know's that I will not stop until I have succeeded! It breaks my heart to know that a good buddy spent 15 yrs building this car to have it stolen by low life's .... it has to be close, but if you are friend of mine on Facebook , please share it anywhere in the world you live as it will make the post show up on more feeds .. THANKS TO ALL THE CAR CRAZY PEOPLE WHO WERE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR OUR CAR. Also thanks to the media, Castanet, CBC Radio and all the car clubs and associations who put the word out.
