Hank from the Smokin Oldies passed away last weekend. Our condolences to his wife Lynda. Always sad to lose a friend.

Wayne’s 1931 Model A Sedan

These pictures, courtesy of Nelson Christensen, feature his father Wayne’s 1931 Model A Sedan and his Posi-Trac car club jacket.  Wayne raced his Model A Sedan at Van Isle Dragways.  While Wayne has since passed away, Nelson still has his Model A to this day and one day hopes to restore it to its former glory.

Cruise to J&L's Drive-in

Kelly called me up and asked me if I wanted to Cruise out to Port Alberni with him, Brett & Linda for lunch at J&L's Drive-in today. Beautiful day for a cruise and the weather was gorgeous in Port! After lunch we took a rip up to the Quay, then headed back to Parksville going through Coombs both ways. Thank-you Linda for lunch and because I was wearing my J&L's t-shirt Kelly and Brett bought their own while we were there. Thanks for the cruise, you guys rock! :)

Robbie Smith Pics

Special thanks to Al Dewey for contributing these photos of his friend Robbie Smith who raced this car at both the Bamberton cement Rd (San Cobble/Cobble Hill BC) and at San Cobble Raceway(Later known as Van Isle Dragways/Mill Bay BC)

With thanks,  Dan

Greg's Nostalgia Pics

Special thanks to Greg Baxandall for contributing these historic photos of the legendary “Heavy Chevy” from his personal collection. A number of these pictures were taken at Van Isle Dragways, which was located in Mill Bay, BC.  Greg was the owner and driver of the Heavy Chevy and was a member of the Posi-Tracs car club that was based out of Campbell River.  We would like to give special mention to Rod Grice who was the original owner/builder of the Heavy Chevy before Greg.

"The Heavy Chevy" has been completely restored by its current owner Greg Love and can be seen cruising the streets of Campbell River
