We recently uncovered this rare 4 minute 8mm Film Footage of Doug Murray's "Canadian Cuda" practicing wheelies at Van Isle Dragways in Mill Bay BC. We would like to thank Wayne Roberts & Kevin Roberts for allowing us access to this rare footage from their VHS tapes.
Friend Rick Rice(r) sharing Van Isle Dragways memories with fellow former racer Dennis Ireland(l) yesterday out at Dennis's home in Sooke with my future sign. I can't wait to meet Dennis soon. Dennis raced the Ireland/Walton 55 Chevy at Van Isle Dragways
I wanted to say a huge "Thank you" to friend Rick Rice for dropping me off these awesome pieces of memorabilia from Van Isle Dragways. These signs once were a part of the strip in Mill Bay and I thank Rick for allowing me to have these awesome pieces of memorabilia that I will certainly cherish! Thank you Rick for making my day and then some!

Join the VI Cruises crowd for the Hwy. 97 Wildfire Recovery Cruise, starting with a picnic in the Williams Lake Stampede Park on Sunday July 8 from 10:00 until 2:00 and consider finishing up the week at the 100 Mile House “Hot July Nights” show and shine on July 13, 14 and 15. If you can’t make Williams Lake, make sure you take in Hot July Nights! These folks had to cancel last year’s show on short notice because of the fires, so they would sure like to see you there this year!

On a visit with my friend Alan Enns he brought out his "Authentic" Van Isle Dragways T-Shirt he bought at the track in the 1970 - 1972 time frame. Probably not many of these around any more. Thank you to Alan for sharing his photos.

Wayne gave me this great photo of the “Bohemian” at an indoor car show down in the Victoria area in the 1967-1972 time frame.
We are very pleased to be able to feature John Dutton, who served time as the official
strip photographer at San Cobble Raceway/Van Isle Dragways from 1967-1972. John's vast archive of photographs recorded a wonderful era on Vancouver Island. We feel, that, if not for John’s efforts, this history could be all but forgotten. We strongly believe that John's contributions to Vancouver Island's drag racing history warranted recognition.
